Cast from twigs, birch bark, acorns and maple samaras, these pieces from Twigs&Heather are breathtaking. They evoke the delicate ephemerality of a forest after an ice storm, all frozen in silver. As hard as it is to believe, these pieces are even more detailed in person than the photos show.
Designers Heather and Kerry Alice Collins are even willing to make custom pieces from a favorite seed or twig, which is one of the loveliest ideas I have heard in a while. Also, their work is by no means restricted to botanical matter - punk rock emblems and natural sea glass both feature in their designs.
The Collins sisters show their work at craft fairs and art festivals around New England, and they are really lovely people. I believe they are actively involved in open space preservation, so there are good reasons to support them besides their wonderful designs.
